Are you operating from a place of scarcity or a place of abundance?  Perhaps you are operating from a place of scarcity without even realizing it.  I know I did for much of my life.  Scarcity is a fear that there is not going to be enough for you, either you better take it or someone else will.  This mindset is often referred to as win-lose. I win and you lose or you win and I lose. The scarcity mindset is based on fear and competition.

Think Win-Win isn’t about being nice, nor is it a quick-fix technique.
It is a character-based code for human interaction and collaboration.
Stephen Covey

In the abundance model, there is plenty of love to go around, plenty of money, customers and we all have the opportunity to be successful.  In this model, your giving or receiving love does not take away from my ability to give and receive love or money or food or customers.  What if you adopted a win-win mindset or even a  “givers gain” mindset?

Just as you might be thinking this win-win thing doesn’t work.  There isn’t enough to go around. Consider this:  Givers Gain is the underlying philosophy of the Networking group BNI.  “We exemplify that by giving business to others; you will get business in return” with over 211,000 members worldwide, something is working right.  An abundance mindset is good for business.

I asked Hazel Walker, Indiana BNI Franchise Owner, National Training Director BNI Australia and Author of Business Networking and Sex, and one of my walking buddies about the concept of Givers Gain. She replied, “When people come together in the spirit of collaboration and supporting one another what they learn is there is not lack. BNI members often comment on the idea that they go above and beyond just business for one another and they are surprised at how whom they thought was their competitor begin to support each other with the mindset of abundance. There is enough for both of us!”

When I am in a place of abundance I feel grounded and centered in my body.  I feel present and alive yet there is also a sense of being relaxed and at ease.  I’m filled with wonder and curiosity  I’m operating above the line and my prefrontal cortex and rational brain are fully functioning.  I feel a sense of peace and contentment.  My mind has slowed down too.  Constant nagging and worry feel like a distant past. Opportunities and choices I have never seen before seem to magically appear.  Synchronicities, coincidences, and luck seem the order of the day.  Time seems to expand and my resistance vanishes. I certainly don’t stay in this place all the time but I certainly come from this expanded place much more than I used to.  This place of abundance, of Giver Gain, I wish for you too.

If my model for scarcity is a giant but limited size pizza, then my model of abundance is looking up at a starry sky on a summer evening.  I love looking at the night sky,  learning the constellations, imaging their inhabitants and enjoying the legends.  I loved the simple wonder and beauty of the stars and how peaceful and expanded I felt admiring the sky.  I wonder what the early astronomer Galileo felt when he invented the telescope?

There is enough sky for everyone in the world to view and enjoy.  My enjoyment does not prohibit or hinder your enjoyment. Plenty of night time viewing for everyone.  All we have to do is be willing to look up and enjoy the night sky.

I love the concept of givers gain!

How could you implement the concept of win-win or Giver Gain into one or more areas of your life?  And if you want to experience givers gain by joining a BNI chapter, no matter where you live, I’m sure Hazel Walker would be glad to help, after all, she is a shining example of Givers Gain.
