“It’s kind of fun to do the impossible.”       -Walt Disney

Walt Disney had a big dream that many said was impossible.  Disney’s first studio, Laugh-O-Gram failed. Disney developed Oswald the Rabbit but was then told that Universal Studios owned the rabbit, another failure. Disney was also told that his cartoon character Mickey Mouse would never be successful because a giant mouse would scare women. Disney’s career was dotted with failures. Disney’s greatest talent may have been his ability to persist in the face of adversity.  Walt Disney was resilient. Disney had a big dream.

What seems impossible for you?  What do you most want to create in your life? Often we give up our dreams because we are supposed to grow up and be practical. Walt Disney built an empire. His imagination and optimism touched the hearts, minds and emotions of millions. One of his first business ventures went bankrupt. Disney, a friend, and their wives made the first Mickey Mouse films on a shoestring budget. Persistence. Doing the impossible. Disney took action.  How impossible building the Disney empire must have seemed after failing at an early business. Never give up.  It’s never too late to do the impossible.

How resilient are you?

How willing are you to pick yourself up and try again? As a coach, I inspire people to get out of their box and to make their dreams come true. What do you most want to create?  Do you want to live life on the edge feeling fully alive, joyful and excited to get up every morning? Instead, do you settle, accepting whatever happens. Few people have given thought to what they most want to create. Even fewer people have written goals either for work or personal.

Are you willing to do the impossible?

It’s never too early or too late to start creating the life of your dreams. Dream big. Maybe it’s time you played big and not small. What is the unique set of gifts, talents and values do you bring. It takes courage to be yourself.  What are your strengths? Disney knew his strengths and kept going. Spend time to think about what you most want.

Be willing!

The first step in doing the impossible is to be willing.  To be open to change.  Ask yourself, “Am I willing to create what I most want?”  For some, you will get a clear yes.  For others, you may feel conflicted.  Part of you says yes and the other part says no.  some of you may get a clear NO.  Take a step back,  even if you got that clear NO,  and ask yourself am I willing,  to be willing to do the impossible, to make your dreams come true.

Success takes resiliency.  Are you willing to get up one more time, no matter how many times you feel you have failed? Be resilient. Yes, you can do the impossible.
